Privacy policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
Comunidad 4jibaro is run by Samuel Ramos, doing business as Comunidad 4jibaro, in Puerto Rico (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use 4jibaro.one, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have. Questions: hola@4jibaro.one.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider (Google Firebase); we never see them.
- Your profile: your handle, and anything you choose to add, like a photo, your instrument, where you play, and a short bio. When you add a photo, we save a small copy and remove the hidden details cameras attach, like where it was taken.
- What you share: posts, replies, practice clips (audio), messages in chat and direct messages, comments in live rooms, and raised hands.
- Your learning: lessons you finish, quiz results, notes you take, your practice log, events you RSVP to, and what you choose in the welcome questions (your level, goals, and practice days).
- Your settings: your language and which notifications and emails you want.
- Billing: if you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We receive your plan, its status, renewal and cancellation dates, and a record of each payment. We never see or store your card number.
- Activity counts: the last day you were active and which lessons you have opened, so we can see how many members are active and which lessons are used most. We don't use cookies or outside tracking for this, and we don't record which pages you visit.
- Error reports: when something breaks on a page, we receive the page address, your browser type, your account ID, and the technical error, so we can fix it.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard logs, including IP addresses, for about 30 days, for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.
- To run the community and courses: show your posts, deliver lessons at your plan, keep your progress, and run live events.
- To send you account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password) and the notifications you've chosen.
- To bill your plan and handle cancellations.
- To keep the community safe: moderation, spam and abuse prevention, and enforcing our Terms.
- To understand, in totals, how the site is used (active members, most-used lessons) and to fix problems.
Who can see what
- Other members can see your profile (including your photo), posts, replies, and the clips you share in spaces. Unless an admin makes the community members-only, people without an account can read posts too.
- Direct messages are visible only to the people in the conversation.
- Teachers see the progress of students in their courses and the clips sent to them for review.
- Admins can see account details (like your email and plan) to support members, handle billing, and moderate.
Services that handle data for us
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud (United States): hosting, sign-in, the database, file storage, server functions, and error reports.
- Stripe: payments and the billing portal, under Stripe's own privacy policy.
- Resend: delivering our emails.
- YouTube and Vimeo: when a lesson uses a video hosted there, or you press play on one linked in a post, it plays in their player, which may set its own cookies under their policies.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use a cookie to remember your language, and your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember a few preferences. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
Emails
Account emails (confirming your address and resetting your password) are part of having an account. Notification emails are optional: choose them under Activity › “What we email you about”, and every one has a link to turn that kind off.
How long we keep it
- We keep your information while your account is active.
- You can remove your photo at any time; moderators can also remove one that breaks the community rules.
- When you delete a post, its replies and clip are deleted too. Deleted replies show as “This reply was deleted.”
- If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data. Your posts can either be deleted or kept under “Former member”; you choose.
- Copies can remain in backups and logs for a limited time. Payment records are kept as tax and financial law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See and update your profile and settings at any time.
- Choose what your profile shows (under Edit profile › Who sees what): where you play, your post, reply, and follower counts, your practice streak, and what you're working on. A hidden location is removed from your public profile and kept only for you.
- Ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or the deletion of your account by writing to hola@4jibaro.one. We'll answer within 30 days.
- Turn notification emails off at any time.
Children
You must be at least 13 to have an account. If you're between 13 and 17, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we'll delete it.
Security
Connections to the site are encrypted, access to data is limited by security rules, and lesson videos are served by links that expire. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and don't share your account.
Where your data is
Your information is stored in the United States, with Google Cloud.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If the change is significant, we'll also tell members by email or in the app.
